Romano has had a varied career before leaving Bell Potter to co-found Katana Asset Management in 2003. The philosophy he follows is bottom up value investing in small, mid and large caps that is fundamentally driven with a technical analysis overlay. He also takes advantage of trend-following contrarian opportunities.

Romano is a past lecturer at Finsia and the ASX and is regularly quoted in a variety of national and local publications.
