An Overview of Micro-X and its prototype IED X-ray camera
Peter Rowland, Managing Director, Micro-X
Micro-X, based in Adelaide, is an ASX-listed, hi-tech company with a global reach and pushes the boundaries of science and technology across industry. It recently exhibited its products in Maryland, Baltimore at the largest maritime expo in the United States. The expo brought together decision makers across the US defence industry. There Micro-X exhibited its award-winning Rover Military X-ray machine. The Rover Military unit has been specifically designed for the unique needs of deployed military and humanitarian aid applications.
Micro-X has successfully commercialised carbon nanotube technology in its products and so Peter’s talk will complement Dr Belperio’s recent presentation. We trust Peter will also talk about Micro-X’s prototype IED X-ray Camera. Micro-X is currently developing an IED X-ray camera claiming unrivalled Rapid Assessment X-ray Capability. Using backscatter imaging technology, the IED X-ray Camera takes images to detect threats such as bombs, drugs, and other organic material.
In his early career Peter worked in the engineering design, development and project management of innovative, high-technology military & scientific equipment. In Australia, he ran an engineering design consultancy group, was director of business development at BAE Systems and then was managing director of ASX-listed and ASA monitored Ellex Medical Lasers which designed and manufactured ophthalmic laser equipment. More recently he was vice president of Asia-Pacific operations for Biolase Technology Inc, a NASDAQ listed therapeutic medical device supplier.
